I used my grant card for a personal purchase by mistake. What do I do?

Putting it right when a grant card is used for a personal purchase, and why no receipt is needed afterward.

💡 If you accidentally bought something personal on your grant card, tell the program that issued your grant. They can flag the charge as a personal transaction so it no longer needs a receipt, and you pay the amount back to the organization.

Tell the program first

Reach out to the program that issued your grant and let them know which charge was a mistake. Unlike an organization card, you can't flag a grant charge as personal yourself, so the program does it for you.

Pay the amount back

You make it right by donating the amount you spent by mistake back to the organization your grant came from, so the organization isn't left short. The program can tell you exactly how to send it.

No receipt needed

Once the program flags the charge as a personal transaction, it's taken off your list of purchases that still need a receipt, so you don't have to upload one for it.

Didn't make the charge at all?

If you don't recognize a charge on your grant card, this isn't the right fix. Don't treat it as a personal purchase. Tell the program right away so they can look into it and, if needed, dispute it.
